Born 1983 in Waldbröl, Germany, I am one of the younger ones in this industry. I grew up in the outback of NRW and without much else to do I soon became involved in the local theatre, starting as a lighting technician and later expanding to Set-Design. In that time I gathered a lot of technical knowledge which I had a chance to put into greater use in the bigger ‘Theater an der Ruhr’, where I too started as a lighting guy, but more and more drifted into the niche of making special props. Trying to combine my enthusiasm for ‘engineering’, the creative freedom and my love for absurd and fantastical creatures, I then studied ‘Technical Arts and Special Effects’ at Wimbledon College of Art. After having graduated in 2007, I am now putting my thrust into making a career as a freelance effect artist.
